Canadian Solar Inc. is considering the construction of a lithium-ion battery manufacturing and assembly plant, Shelbyville Battery Manufacturing LLC, to be located in Shelbyville. The project’s scope includes the design and construction of building space as well as the purchase and installation of modular battery pack production lines with automated conveyors, robotic cell loading, assembly, welding and cell inversion equipment. Raw material storage, testing and packaging equipment and systems are also included. A construction schedule has not yet been developed. Canadian Solar would use the plant to produce lithium-ion battery cells, battery packs and modules to create utility-scale self-contained energy equipment storage systems. North Dakota

Gevo Inc. is planning to construct a sustainable aviation fuel plant at the site of the Red Trail Energy LLC ethanol plant, which it is currently acquiring near Richardton. Project scope includes construction of building space and equipment foundations; fabrication and erection of storage tanks; and purchase and installation of reactors, cooling towers, process vessels, and separation and flow control equipment and systems. A construction schedule will be developed following acquisition, expected in the first quarter of 2025. Future plans may include increasing carbon dioxide sequestration capacity at the site to 1 million metric tons per year. Gevo is also planning to construct a biofuels and cogeneration plant in Lake Preston, S.D. The project is estimated between $250 million and $500 million. Wyoming

TDA Research Inc. is planning to construct a pilot-scale, post combustion, sorbent-based carbon dioxide capture system at Basin Electric Power Cooperative’s Integrated Test Center site in Gillette. Scope includes construction of foundations; purchase and erection of structural steel; and purchase and installation of flue gas quencher, CO₂ absorber, solvent reactor, steam regenerator, and CO₂ dehydration, compression and metering equipment.
