Early Bird Deadline: No Entry Fee Through June 14, 2024

Regular Deadline: Aug. 19, 2024

Final Deadline (with late fee): Sept. 6, 2024

Welcome to the revamped ENR Global Best Projects Awards program! We are seeking entries for a competition dedicated to honoring the best global construction projects and the companies that designed and built them throughout the entire world. The awards focus on the challenges, risks and rewards of designing and constructing in diverse and remote locales around the globe.

Entries can now be submitted to Global Best Projects from around the world regardless of where the project team is based, except for projects located in the U.S., which must feature an international team. For example, if a bridge project was built in Turkey, it can now be entered even if the entire project team was based in Turkey. However, a bridge built in the U.S. would need to have firms from outside the U.S. involved. If you would like to submit your U.S. project to the separate U.S. Regional Best Projects competition, please do so here.

Entries will compete in 20 specialized categories, ranging from airports to education. An independent jury of industry leaders in design and construction will judge the projects using five criteria, including safety, innovation and teamwork. The winners will be featured in the pages of ENR, and at an event in December.

Entries may be submitted by any of the firms working on the project, but the most successful entries are joint entries incorporating input from multiple key team members, such as the design firm, contractor and owner.

ELIGIBILITY

  1. The project can be built anywhere in the world.
  2. For projects located in the U.S. only: Multiple project team member firms must be working outside of their home countries. If your project team is entirely U.S. based, please enter the Regional U.S. Best Projects competition instead here
  3. The project must be completed between Jan. 1 2023 and June 30, 2024
  4. A project with a construction-related fatality, regardless of contractor or trade, is not eligible.
  5. You can submit as many projects as you want, but you can’t submit the same project in multiple categories.
  6. 6. There is no entry fee through June 14. After that date, the entry fee is $95 through the regular deadline of Aug. 19. Late entries will be accepted through Sept. 6 at a fee of $125 per entry.

JUDGING CRITERIA

Eligible projects are reviewed by a panel of judges, which will award projects based on the following criteria.

Teamwork and Overcoming Challenges

What challenges or issues did the design and construction team face, manage and overcome? Be specific about the problems and solutions, and describe how teamwork was used to accomplish the project goals. For projects built in the U.S., include information on how geographically diverse was the project team, and how those firms worked together.

Safety
How well did the project team go above and beyond the local and international industry safety requirements on the submitted project? What training/safety programs were implemented to prevent injuries and assure a safe jobsite? Include measurable safety statistics and results.

Innovation & Contribution to the Industry/Community
In what ways did this project innovate or help elevate industry standards locally or internationally? Were there any unusual construction techniques, design elements, materials or new technology used that benefited the project and the client? In what other ways did the project benefit the local or global community?

Construction Quality & Craftsmanship
How did the construction team show excellence in quality and craftsmanship? How well did the contractor and subs exceed expectations and achieve extraordinary results? Was the project on time and on budget, and were there any extenuating factors that made this accomplishment more impressive?

Function & Aesthetic Quality of the Design
Does the design – whether architectural or engineering—fulfill the project's function? Does the project fit within the context of its local surroundings and its intended use?
