The semiconductor producer is building a wafer plant in North Carolina and plans to expand a fab in New York.

Amkor Technology Inc. plans to build an outsourced semiconductor assembly and test facility near Phoenix.

Texas Instruments says it is investing $18 billion on the plants in Texas and Utah.

The grants, between $19 million and $51 million, will support construction and other efforts at the hubs to boost tech development.

The award is the largest to be offered under the CHIPS and Science Act program, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said.

The CHIPS and Science Act money would go toward work to expand a New York chip plant and build another nearby, and to modernize a plant in Vermont.
